Ulverstone Rotary Rodeo is held at ‘Batten Park’ on South Road, 5 minutes drive from the township of Ulverstone. It is by far Tasmanias biggest and richest rodeo rated amongst the top five nation wide. Its tranquil and serene bush setting provides the ideal location for many equine events including, Rodeo, Campdrafting, Cutting and Quarterhorse Shows to name a few.
With over $15,000 in prize money and Allround Cowboy and Cowgirl Trophy buckles, Ulverstone is a highly sought after event popular with numerous mainland champion cowboys.
Eight Main Events are ran including Bull Ride, Bareback Bronc Ride, Saddle Bronc Ride, Steer Wrestling, Team Roping, Rope & Tie, Breakaway Roping and Barrel Race all under the auspices of the Australian Professional Rodeo Association (APRA). Second Division rough stock events, a full Junior Rodeo commencing at 5:30pm and Local events including Barrel Race and Steer Ride are also part of the program.
Main Events commence at 7pm with our Rodeo running through until approximately 10pm.
Attractions throughout the professional program include Comedy Clown Acts, Professional Bullfighters, Mainland and Tasmanian Champions, World Class Announcers and guaranteed non-stop action.
A Live Band commences immediately after the Rodeo and plays until around 2am.
Ulverstone Rodeo is an event for the entire family displaying the horsemanship skills, talent and athletic ability of both our animals and human competitors inherited from the ‘Australian Stockmen’.
The Ulverstone Rodeo can provide for up to 7,000 spectators with average crowd attendance being between 5 – 6,000 each year making it one of Tasmanias largest spectator events.
With its large sloping bank making viewing spectacular, many spectators bring fold up chairs and blankets for seating or use one of the two large grandstand areas.
Food and beverage outlets include hot and cold food and drinks at realistic and affordable prices with a wide variety including icecreams, hot chips, pies, pasties, hamburgers steaks confectionary and more.
Ulverstone has a separate wet area permitted to people over the age of 18 years only. This area is standing room only, no chairs are permitted and Liquor licence runs from 5pm until 2am with Live band at completion of Rodeo. Toilet and washroom facilities are available with plenty of parking space on grounds.
Please note. For the safety of children and other patrons, Strictly No BYO is permitted into the Ulverstone Rodeo. Alcohol is designated to wet area only. ALL vehicles will be searched and Security on duty.
